Yesterday, Premier Kenney announced a number of changes to provincial health requirements that will influence processes in our schools over the coming weeks. Although we do not have all the specific details, we understand the government has established a three phased approach to easing COVID-19 protocols. As COVID-19 (Omicron) is still prevalent, Grasslands will continue to work within the revised government guidelines while still working diligently to maintain healthy and safe learning and working environments.
Effective February 14, 2022
Effective March 1, 2022 if hospitalizations are trending downwards
At this time, there are no timelines for Step 3; however, we understand that this will be the time that mandatory isolation requirements will be removed.
As this announcement is very new, there are still questions being presented to Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services, and we are waiting for some clarification and updated correspondence. As we continue to receive information, we will do our best to ensure our school leaders, staff, parents and students are informed.
We recognize this is another shift in our processes and these transitions may bring challenges, mixed emotions and questions. We also understand everyone’s desire to transition back to a normal school experience. We cannot express enough gratitude for your ongoing patience, respect, cooperation and understanding. As always, we are proud to serve our students, families and communities. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact your child’s teacher, principal or the Grasslands office.
